Romans 8:26-27
In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered. He who searches the hearts knows what is on the Spirit’s mind, because he makes intercession for the saints according to God.
Not only does the Holy Spirit help us to do what is right as we live our Christian lives here on earth, but He also prays for us in a way that is acceptable to God. If you have ever thought that you don’t know how to pray correctly, then you were right. The Bible says that “we don’t know how to pray as we ought.” This doesn’t mean that we don’t need to pray.
The Bible still tells us to pray, but the Holy Spirit speaks the language of the Father and He knows the right things to ask for. He also knows exactly what we are trying to say. We can have great confidence that God will hear our prayer as we trust in the Holy Spirit. This passage reminds us that even in some things that may seem simple to us still require us to depend on God. There is no room for pride or for self-righteousness in praying and we still need to depend completely on the Holy Spirit.
