Romans 8:35-39
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Could oppression, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Even as it is written, “For your sake we are killed all day long. We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Our relationship with God is not a frail thing! We go through hard times here on earth and we may be tempted to think that they will disrupt or harm our relationship with God, but they won’t.
It’s important to recognize that we are winners because it was Jesus who loved us. It isn’t because we loved Him so much. He is the reason for our relationship in the first place and He is capable of securing our relationship no matter what happens.
Everything in this world and in the spirit world is a “created thing”. No one and nothing in or out of this world has the power to overcome the creator no matter how much they may try. No one and nothing will be able to overpower God. So we don’t have anything to worry about. God, who started our relationship can be trusted to keep it safe.
We should never forget that this relationship we have with God is only “in Christ Jesus our Lord.” This means that we must be in Jesus to have it. It also means that there are no other religions that provide this relationship with God.
