Romans 10:1
Brothers, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God is for Israel, that they may be saved.
Paul repeats his heart’s desire for Israel so, it is worth repeating here. I think that it is especially important for us to consider in the light of the fact that there are so many who claim to be Christians who speak against both the nation and the people of Israel. There is absolutely no place for this in Christianity. Paul’s heart was for Israel, not against Israel.
To say that it is a good Christian position to be against Israel is to say that it is a good Christian position to be against the Bible, because the Bible clearly tells us to love Israel.
I am not saying that we should love everything that they do. Actually, that is why Paul’s heart was for them as he goes on to describe next. What I am saying is that we should not wish evil on anyone made in God’s image, especially His Chosen People! Even when our enemies sin against God, it should be our prayer that they be saved. After all, we were God’s enemies and we were saved too. God has demonstrated His love for every one of us while we were still sinners. We should allow God to give us a love for His people.
