Day 130: Jesus as Savior

John 14:21 – One who has my commandments, and keeps them, that person is one who loves me. One who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will reveal myself to him.

If you really love Jesus, God can tell. All He has to do is see if you are obeying Jesus commands. It is true that from the outside, others may not be able to tell, but God can tell when your heart has changed and you have started loving others.

If we don’t love Jesus, we don’t really belong to Him. If we don’t love Jesus we have misunderstood what Christianity is all about. This shows us, once again, that without knowing Jesus as savior, we don’t yet understand Christianity enough to be called Christians. Many attempt to re-define Christianity today, but this verse makes it clear that only those who love Jesus are loved by the Father.

When we accept the love of Jesus, we are changed inside and, by His power, are able to love each other. When we love each other, it proves that we have accepted His love. John talks a lot about this connection in His Biblical writings as He does here.

Your obedience to have true love for other Christians reveals your true love for Jesus and it is promised that you have God’s love forever. Jesus also says that He will reveal Himself to us. That is one of the most wonderful things a Christian can know in this life. Other parts of the Bible tell us that we can know Jesus, partly, here on earth. Later we will have a more full understanding (1 Corinthians 13:12). If the things we learn about Him now are great, can you imagine what it will be like later?
