Genesis 30:22-24
God remembered Rachel, and God listened to her, and opened her womb. She conceived, bore a son, and said, “God has taken away my reproach.” She named him Joseph, saying, “May Yahweh add another son to me.”
Rachel and Jacob may have not been acting right toward Leah, but God still heard them when they called out to him. God is well aware that we are all sinful. If He didn’t want us He could have destroyed all of mankind in the flood, but God has a plan for us and He hears us when we call on Him even as sinners.
God doesn’t want us to stay sinners, though. The reason that God can work with us is because He has given up His Son to die for us. He hadn’t yet given up his Son to die when He decided to help Jacob’s family, but He knew that He was to do it. God is a God of prophesy and He knows the future. Jesus’ death was sure to happen and God could see that and apply mercy to those who called on His name.
Any of us can call on God and ask for wisdom. God has promised to not find fault. Listen to what it says in the book of James:
James 1:5 :
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him.
If you need wisdom, you should read the Bible. The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom as it says here in Proverbs:
Proverbs 9:10 :
The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom.
The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
There is no knowledge or wisdom that leaves out the Bible. If you really want to understand, you need to look to God. He was the one that made you. Man seems to think that he can be “neutral” and look at “the facts.” The problem with this is that there really isn’t any neutral when you understand the truth. God didn’t make us neutral. He made us with a knowledge of Himself. Neutrality really isn’t possible anyway because neutrality is itself a position. Coming to God for wisdom is a good thing because it shows that we are ready to stop trying to think without Him. Rachel decided to call out to God and he heard her.
