Day 19: How to Become an Amazing Person

Acts 4:13 :

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and had perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled. They recognized that they had been with Jesus.

As we read here, the way to amaze people, even if you aren’t very educated, is to give Jesus all the credit! This is the “secret” for those who are either “smart” by the world’s standards or who are not. In fact, unless we all become like little children, Jesus said that we can’t enter the kingdom of God. Those who think they are educated and intelligent in this world, need to realize their foolishness and their ignorance in order to see themselves like a child before God. God is much higher than we are and that is always an understatement. We simply cannot say enough about how much greater God is. We are very, very small compared to Him and we are also sinful and ignorant of our sin until we are shown by God and His word. Only when we understand our condition can we then believe and be saved.

To be amazing we have to be with Jesus because without Him we are not amazing at all. In fact, we are harmful to God and others. But, with Jesus we get to share in His “amazingness” and stop tearing the world down around us. Our job is to let Him shine through our obvious weakness. Then, people will know something is going on that is larger than we are able to do on our own. I think that this is another way of saying that we should do things “in Jesus Name.” When we do things in His name, it is He who gets the glory and the attention. The only reason we get recognized is because we are weak and are somehow doing things we shouldn’t be able to do. We shouldn’t think that God is lucky to have us. We should recognize that without Him we are nothing.
