Day 116: The Servant Codes – Part 3 – The Chosen Ones

John 13:18a – I don’t speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen.

I am convinced that we don’t know what love is if we don’t know Jesus. Love is the greatest thing in the world, but, in this present world, we only understand it a little bit. The more we learn from Jesus, the more we understand it. I think that the most powerful “Servant Code” has to do with the fact that Jesus chose us. John wrote about this code a little when He mentioned what John the Baptist said. Remember this:

John 3:27-29 – John answered, “A man can receive nothing, unless it has been given him from heaven. You yourselves testify that I said, ‘I am not the Christ,’ but, ‘I have been sent before him.’ He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. This, my joy, therefore is made full.

John the Baptist says that it is God who decides who we are. John was happy to be chosen as “the friend of the bridegroom”… interesting. A wedding is going to go on and John knows about it. So… let me see… we have the groom, we have the friend of the groom, who is missing from this picture that needs choosing? This has already been revealed to us by Paul:

Ephesians 5:25-30 – Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it; that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word, that he might present the assembly(church) to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. Even so husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself. For no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord also does the assembly(church); because we are members of his body, of his flesh and bones.

Isn’t it amazing? Jesus has spent this time on earth protecting and gathering His bride, the church. Now He is leaving her for a while and He does this act. He puts off His robe, makes himself a servant, and washes them. This is a spiritual act of making his bride beautiful.

It is Jesus who must wash them if they are to be a part if Him. He is the husband of the church and He will take care of her as He takes care of himself. This is such a deep code, that I expect we will be learning about forever.

Bible Codes: The Bible is an encoded message on many levels. There is a great book that focuses on Bible codes called “Cosmic Codes” by Chuck Missler. Chuck shows us many of the codes he has discovered and encourages us to find out what God wants to show us. It is amazing how God really can shows us new and wonderful things in the Bible.
