Genesis 6:9-12
This is the history of the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time. Noah walked with God. Noah became the father of three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. The earth was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. God saw the earth, and saw that it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.
God was about to destroy everyone on the earth except for one family. It so happens that all of the people who are alive today come from Noah’s family. Because of this, Christians don’t believe in racism of any kind. The simple fact is that, not only are we a single race, we are all members of the same family: Noah’s.
Noah had three sons and three daughters-in-law and from these six people come all of the people who live on earth today. Obviously, no one is less valuable than anyone else. What people have done to excuse themselves from this fact is to create divisions based on looks or on other factors about the children of Noah. This kind of behavior is not acceptable to God.
From Shem’s family we have the Semites. Unfortunately, many people try to justify their anti-Semitism today but it is unacceptable, especially when we consider that Jesus Christ Himself was born from Shem’s family line.
I am told that at least some of the children of Japheth ended up being “barbarians” in Europe. At one time, they were also treated poorly by the others as well.
Others have attempted to justify their mistreatment of Ham’s family that settled in Africa. When we look at it from the perspective of our super-great grandpa Noah, it is a very sad sight indeed. God loves all of us and we have no excuse to not love each other and treat each other with respect.
