Day 5: Earth, Sea and the Wisdom of God

Genesis 1:9-10

God said, “Let the waters under the sky be gathered together to one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so. God called the dry land “earth,” and the gathering together of the waters he called “seas.” God saw that it was good.

Here we are on day three, the day that land appeared. Just like before, God spoke the word and things happened and again, God gave names to the new things He made. It is pretty clear that God isn’t telling us about every detail. We know from studying land and water that both are quite complex. God made the Bible so easy to read that even a child could understand, but adults can learn a great deal by simply believing the simple words that God gives us.

Proverbs 3:19-24 :

By wisdom Yahweh founded the earth.
By understanding, he established the heavens.
By his knowledge, the depths were broken up,
and the skies drop down the dew.
My son, let them not depart from your eyes.
Keep sound wisdom and discretion:
so they will be life to your soul,
and grace for your neck.
Then you shall walk in your way securely.
Your foot won’t stumble.
When you lie down, you will not be afraid.
Yes, you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet.

The universe is evidence of God’s wisdom, understanding and knowledge. We learn about God’s wisdom from the Bible and when we allow God’s wisdom to guide us, we don’t have to be afraid.
