Day 136: You Can’t Take It With You But You Can Transfer It

Luke 12:29-34 :

Don’t seek what you will eat or what you will drink; neither be anxious. For the nations of the world seek after all of these things, but your Father knows that you need these things. But seek God’s Kingdom, and all these things will be added to you. Don’t be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom. Sell that which you have, and give gifts to the needy. Make for yourselves purses which don’t grow old, a treasure in the heavens that doesn’t fail, where no thief approaches, neither moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Jesus’ method for wealth building has at least three important parts as we read here: the focus, the method and the storage. He doesn’t advocate getting into gold, stocks, bonds or real estate. His idea is absolutely risk free. He also provides a way to convert your current wealth immediately. Lastly, it supports good health too. First of all let’s consider focus.

Jesus doesn’t want us to worry or to seek what we will eat or what we will drink here on earth. Jesus doesn’t want our focus on getting food but on getting His Kingdom instead. Notice that we still have to work for our food, but we don’t work for food by looking for it. We should be going about the King’s business and trust that the King will feed us as He does all of His servants. The amazing thing is that we aren’t just servants because we can build wealth!

Saving up stuff on earth is a complete waste of opportunity! This exposes a problem with our wealth gaining methods. We should be giving away our earthly goods to the needy because that is how we build up our “finances” in Heaven. By the way, we should make sure they are really needy because the Bible warns us not to give money to the rich. I say this because some rich people act like they are needy but they are just trying to get your money, so don’t give them anything. So, to convert your worldly assets into Heavenly ones, simply give things away to those who are in need.

Then, there’s the topic of storage. Heavenly income is stored in heaven and it is much better because it will last without any risk over time! There is no inflation there and there are never any natural disasters or stock drops. There are no car crashes or house fires, and there are no thieves or deaths. Not only that, perfect records are kept and nothing “falls through the cracks” and no mistakes are made. It is clearly a better investment no matter how you look at it. You will keep every bit of what you transfer to Heaven!

Lastly, it clears up “heart problems.” When we put our trust in Jesus and give things away our life focus shifts from earth to Heaven. Then we can be thrilled with the joy of giving things to people and know that our income is safely waiting for us when we arrive in the Kingdom after this life is over. So let’s take our earthly wealth and start converting it to a Heavenly account today!
