Day 46: What One Man Can Do

Romans 5:16-18 :

The gift is not as through one who sinned: for the judgment came by one to condemnation, but the free gift came of many trespasses to justification. For if by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; so much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ. So then as through one trespass, all men were condemned; even so through one act of righteousness, all men were justified to life.

It is truly amazing that even though sin spread like a wild fire after Adam, Jesus was able to take all sin and pay the entire punishment for it all at once. He was able to show us His unique love that can only be shown to us while we were still sinners. If we had been worthy of this love in some way, it would not have been expressed as grace. So, grace was able to come to life for all of us because all of us were unworthy.

When Adam sinned, death became our future and there was no way to stop it from coming. It became a tyrant to us; one that we could not overcome. Jesus, however, overcame death itself and His gift has given us a life that rules over us; one that cannot be removed forever.

It really does make sense that if sin came by a single man into the world, a single Man who was more powerful could save the whole world too.

It is amazing what a single man can do. I believe that it is true for us too. We are able to make big changes in the world. It may not be clear what those changes are today, but if you keep on doing what God wants you to do and keep doing it by His strength, seemingly small things can have a huge effect in the lives of others in the future. Unfortunately, this is also true for bad things we do. Just like Adam our sin can effect people in the future in horrible ways too.
