Genesis 8:20-22
Noah built an altar to Yahweh, and took of every clean animal, and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. Yahweh smelled the pleasant aroma. Yahweh said in his heart, “I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake, because the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I ever again strike everything living, as I have done. While the earth remains, seed time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.”
It’s easy to take for granted that the sun will come up tomorrow. Have you ever wondered why you can know that tomorrow will be basically like today? This passage tells us that the reason that the seasons keep changing and we keep getting day and night is because of the promise that God made to Noah. Noah made a sacrifice to God that pleased Him. It wasn’t that God liked the smell of beef steaks. It was that He liked the fact that Noah had faith in Him and acted accordingly. God promised that even though we may do wrong, He will keep our seasons and days consistent.
Have you ever considered how a person who believes in evolution could reasonably expect to see a similar day tomorrow? If things are always changing, why would tomorrow not be different? Why wouldn’t the days get longer or the seasons stop coming? To an evolutionist it is a random chance universe. The fact that we keep seeing new days and repeat seasons is consistent with Christianity, but it isn’t consistent with evolution, especially over long periods.
God also promised that He would never strike every living thing like He did. We don’t have to worry about God destroying the world again by a flood.
